Chiropractic Care - An Ally In Your Health and Wellness

Few have escaped the impact of Covid-19, now for more than a year.  Whether you've personally experienced Covid or just heard the heart-breaking stories, we are more aware than ever the value of a healthy body and healthy immune system.

A healthy, capable body with stamina, energy, and strong immune system is much more prepared to deal with the many pathogens we encounter daily.

Did you know, many chiropractors have vast training and experience with improving their patients' overall health and wellness?  In addition to traditional chiropractic care - the chiropractic adjustment - many provide dietary and nutritional recommendations, exercise prescriptions and regimens, and promote healthy lifestyle changes.  It makes sense that many consider doctors of chiropractic "health and wellness" doctors, focused on natural healing and well-being.

The majority of chiropractors utilize chiropractic adjustments - delivered in a variety of ways, such as hands or instruments - as their primary treatment.  Chiropractic adjustments not only have a tremendous positive effect on pain and joint mobility, they can also positively impact the nervous system.  Think of a chiropractic adjustment as not only removing joint adhesions and reducing pain, but additionally as potentially removing nerve interference and essentially jump starting and resetting parts of the nervous system.

We know that without an optimally functioning nervous system, your health, wellness and immune system can become compromised, reducing your body’s ability to stave off pathogens and infections.  So while chiropractic care is commonly utilized for the treatment of back pain, neck and head pain, and extremity pain, chiropractic care can also be impactful in enhancing overall health and wellness including immune system functioning.

Interested in improving your overall health and wellness?  Looking to strengthen your immune system and ability to tackle those nasty pathogens we encounter daily?  Look no further than your local chiropractor!  Call to find out if we have the solution for what ails you!

More Exercises Are Proving Helpful for Optimal Brain Health & Function

How can you boost brain power? It’s an important question to ask, especially with the rise of dementia and Alzheimer’s diseases. Is there really anything that can be done to achieve optimal brain health in an effort to ward off these debilitating diseases? Indeed there is! Reuters recently reported on a study that found more and more physical exercises are proving useful for brain health. Tai Chi seems to dominate the cognitive function category. But they’re definitely not alone – which is great news for people who like activities that are more energetic. A variety of strength training and aerobic exercises have been shown to slow cognitive decline in adults over the age of 50. Neurons in the brain fire whenever people are engaged in a form of physical activity. Even something like walking regularly can have a profound effect on brain function. The neurons in the brain fire whenever people have to balance and contract their muscles. Not only does the rapid firing help the body to perform these functions even better, they keep the brain active and healthy. The Harvard Health Blog recommends walking at the very least. If people aren’t into that, they can try:

  • Swimming
  • Dancing
  • Tennis
  • Aerobics Classes

And even hiring a personal trainer. The goal here is not so much what type of physical activity a person engages in, but the regularity in which they do it. Exercising at least three days a week is a good start for achieving optimal brain health.

Reduce Stroke With Fruits and Vegetables

Want to significantly reduce your risk for stroke?  Research indicates eating fruits and vegetables can do so by almost one-third.  To obtain their data, researchers evaluated twenty recent studies that included more than 760,000 participants and approximately 17,000 strokes.  Those eating the most fruits and vegetables were 21 percent less likely to experience a stroke.  For every 200 grams of fruit consumed daily, stroke risk was reduced 32 percent and 11 percent with every 200 grams of vegetables consumed.  What fruits and vegetables seemed to have the most beneficial effects you ask?  According to researchers, citrus fruits such as grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes as well as apples, pears and leafy vegetables were most linked to reduced stroke risk.  With strokes listed as the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S., adding or increasing consumption of these fruits and vegetables is a no-brainer.
